The Tri-State Apprenticeship Summit 2025 successfully brought together industry leaders, employers, training providers, and apprentices to examine the evolving landscape of apprenticeship programs and workforce development across the region.
Lisa Conturo, Director of the German American Chamber of Commerce Pittsburgh Chapter (GACC PIT), opened the event with insights into the growing importance and value of apprenticeships as a strategic workforce solution. She emphasized how modern apprenticeship models are adapting to meet the needs of both industry and talent.
The session “Apprenticeship in Action” showcased two compelling perspectives:
- Sam Osten, President of Impact Guard, shared the employer’s viewpoint. He explained how apprenticeships provide a sustainable talent pipeline, reduce turnover, and support long-term company growth through tailored, hands-on training.
- Ben Krummert, a current apprentice, offered a personal reflection on his experience. He highlighted the benefits of debt-free education, real-world skills acquisition, and a clear career path — all made possible through the guidance of his trainer, Mac Kimbrough.
Throughout the day, participants heard from a wide range of voices across the Tri-State region, each contributing to the collective understanding of how apprenticeships continue to transform lives and strengthen industries.
The summit reinforced that apprenticeships are not only a bridge to employment but a critical tool for building the workforce of the future.
