The Electric Vehicle Technician Program addresses the growing demand for skilled professionals capable of servicing and maintaining high-voltage electric vehicles (EVs).
The Electric Vehicle Automotive Technician program equips participants with specialized skills to safely diagnose, service, and repair Electric Vehicles (Plug-in hybrids and full EVs), including intricate tasks involving battery systems and advanced electrical components.
Designed to bridge the gap in automotive service expertise, the program prepares technicians with a comprehensive understanding of power electronics and data communication systems crucial for EV operations.

Job Profil
Tasks of an EV Automotive Technician include:
- EV Diagnosis and Repair: Perform comprehensive diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on
electric vehicles, including but not limited to battery systems, electrical components, charging
systems, and drivetrain components. - Routine Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance tasks on EVs, such as brake inspections, tire
rotations, fluid checks, and software updates to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Battery Management: Monitor and manage the health of EV batteries, including capacity testing,
balancing, and replacement as needed. - Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines when working with high-voltage
electrical systems, and implement best practices to ensure a safe working environment. - Continuous Learning: Stay updated on the latest EV technology advancements, industry trends,
and repair techniques through training and self-study.
Curriculum
1 year of Technical Instruction and Practical Labs at the College include:
- Safety and Electrical Awareness and Safe Behavior at the workplace
- Intro to Hybrid & Electric Vehicles
- Hybrid & EV Principles & Operation
- Hybrid and EV Batteries and Battery Management
- Additional Automotive EV Related Systems
Upon successful completion the Apprentice will receive the following industry-recognized credentials and certifications:
- Journeyworker Papers (Dept. of Labor & Industry)
- EV Automotive College Certificate from CCAC
- ASE Certification in High-Voltage Electrical Safety Standards
- German Apprenticeship Certificate (DiHK) as Kfz-MechatronikerIn System- und Hochvolttechnik
